LCTA’s Annual Meeting, was held on Friday March 14th, which featured a Lake County Transportation update from Lake County’s Director of Division of Transportation, Shane Schneider and an important presentation of the current state of transit in the Chicago region and the looming fiscal cliff, by Erin Aleman, Executive Director of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP).

The Illinois Senate Transportation Committee recently held a local hearing to discuss the importance of public transit and its impact on climate change. Across Chicagoland, public transit is expected to hit a $730 million fiscal cliff in 2026 as federal pandemic funding runs out. Officials advocated for an environmentally sustainable, fiscally responsible, approach to ensure that transit is provided equitably across Lake County and all of Chicagoland.
