Bike Sharing Arrives in Lake County

Non-motorized modes of travel — bicycling, walking, and access to transit — are important components of Lake County’s multimodal transportation mix.

BIKE SHARE PROGRAM FIRST IN LAKE COUNTY

Bike sharing programs are popping up in various areas across the county offering an effective, on-demand service for commuters and tourists, and fun for a short ride around town. These programs have numerous benefits, including health and wellness, increased community connections, reduced carbon emissions with transportation, recreational opportunities, and alternative commuting opportunities.

Together We #RideGrayslake is the first community Bike Share program in Lake County and offers a network of five bike rental locations across Grayslake. Riders can explore the Grayslake Area and 20+ miles of bike trails.

This Bike Share program is community collaboration between the College of Lake County, Grayslake Area Public Library, Grayslake Park District, Village of Grayslake and Grayslake resident Mary Klees.

Bike locations and return sites include:

  • CLC, Just outside Building F - Athletics & Fitness Center on the Grayslake Campus

  • Village Center: Parking lot on Whitney St. / Hawley St.

  • Mill Creek Park (Atkinson Rd. / Washington St.)

  • Washington Street Metra Station
